picoWebs

Privacy Policy

Revised: May 2, 2026

1. Our Privacy Philosophy

picoWebs is built on a "zero-knowledge" and "no-account" architecture. We believe that if we do not collect your personal data, it cannot be stolen, leaked, or sold. We prioritize client-side processing to maximize your privacy.

2. What We DO NOT Collect

Because you do not register for an account to use picoWebs, we never ask for, collect, or store:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Passwords
  • Payment or billing information
  • Cross-site tracking profiles

3. What We DO Collect & Store

To make the platform function and route your micro-site correctly, our servers process and store the bare minimum:

  • The Payload: The public site address, the encrypted/compressed URL string that makes up your site, and a cryptographically hashed version of your edit key. We cannot reverse-engineer the hashed key to see your original password.
  • Infrastructure Routing Data: For security, DDoS protection, and rate-limiting, our infrastructure provider may temporarily log standard web requests (such as IP addresses and browser User-Agents). This data is used strictly to keep the servers online, is automatically purged after a short period, and is never tied to an individual identity.
  • Local Storage: Your edit keys are stored locally in your own web browser. We do not sync these to a central database. If you clear your browser data, your keys are gone. We strongly recommend using a password manager to securely store your site addresses and keys.

4. Third-Party Services & Extensions

While picoWebs itself is private, your site interacts with the wider internet in two specific ways:

  • Security Scanning: To protect the platform from malware, URLs included in your site payload are temporarily sent to a validation API for automated safety scanning.
  • Extensions: If you choose to embed third-party extensions (like YouTube videos, Google Maps, Formspree contact forms, SoundCloud tracks, or images hosted via Imgur), those specific blocks are loaded directly from those providers. Those companies may use cookies or track your visitors according to their own privacy policies.

5. Data Sharing & Law Enforcement

We do not sell, rent, or monetize your data. We do not run ads on your micro-sites.

If we receive a valid, legally binding request from law enforcement regarding a specific micro-site, we can only provide what we have: the public URL payload and the hashed edit key. Because we do not require registration, we have no real-world identities, emails, or permanent logs attached to specific sites to hand over.
